Navy doctor shoots 2 people and is then shot dead at the Maryland base

A doctor shot and injured two critics at a business park in Frederick, Maryland, on Tuesday. The alleged gunman, 38-year-old Fantahun Girma Woldesenbet, was later shot dead at the U.S. military base Fort Detrick.

The shooter entered a business at Riverside Tech Park and let people walk inside safety, Police Chief Jason Lando told reporters on Tuesday. After the shooting, he said, the suspect drove about 10 minutes to Fort Detrick, where he was killed by military personnel.

“The public is no longer in danger,” Lando said. “There is no further cause for concern in the Frederick community.”

Police received a call Tuesday morning for an active shooter at the business park. When officers arrived there, they found that two adult men had been shot and were in a critical condition. The victims were lifted to the hospital in the air for treatment.

The FBI, ATF Baltimore and Maryland police are helping with the investigation.
