National Guard troops at Capitol sick after eating raw meat: report

National Guard soldiers defending the US Capitol have become ill after being fed meat that is almost completely raw – with shaved metal that is also found in disgusting meals, according to whistleblowers.

An anonymous personnel sergeant at the Michigan National Guard told WXYZ that the force complained repeatedly after more than a dozen troops became ill due to too little meat.

“Yesterday there were 74 different meals with raw beef in it,” the sergeant told the station Monday, sharing images of meat that looked completely raw in the middle.

“Just yesterday … soldiers found metal shavings in their food,” he said.

Undercooked meals that were “good from the start” were then made “even more dangerous” with a four-hour delay before being served, he said.

Despite their key role in defending the Capitol against dreaded domestic terrorist conspiracies, the troops are also deplorably malnourished, the sergeant complained.

A typical breakfast was ‘maybe a Danish and a kind of juice’, while sometimes it was ‘clearly a sandwich and a SunnyD’, the sergeant said.

Another soldier complained last month that “several soldiers became ill and vomited after eating,” The Detroit News said.

Morality is very bad; many have served overseas and cannot believe that the quality of food they are fed here, ”the soldier complains.

Michigan National Guard – which still has nearly 1,000 troops at the Capitol – a statement released On Monday, the reports called it “very worrying” and “unacceptable” and said it had to do with the contractor involved.

“The health and well-being of our members of the Michigan National Guard Service is of paramount importance to their success as they continue to serve in missions in the United States and around the world,” the statement said.

Government Gretchen Whitmer’s office told local media that she took up the issue last month and that the insurance had been resolved.

All 14 members of the Michigan delegation on Tuesday signed a letter asking the National Guard to annul the food service contract and find another seller.

“It is completely unacceptable that our men and women who serve in Washington, DC are hospitalized because of the food they are provided with,” the lawmakers wrote.

The troops from Michigan make up about 20% of the 5,200 guard soldiers and pilots who support civil law enforcement at the Capitol, The Detroit News noted.
