Based on a preliminary investigation, authorities said it did not appear that foul play was involved in her death. An investigation into the cause of death continues.
“Before Narineh left, she told her family that she would go on a one-day hike, but that she had no place and never returned home,” Hauptmann said.
Narineh’s family has told police it is common for her to go for walks with groups and go on solo outings, although she has been going alone recently.

Earlier this week, Glendale police contacted the woman’s walking groups to distribute leaflets to missing persons, posted a missing person’s bulletin on social media platforms and reported that she was driving a Subaru Impreza, California plate 8JSH794.
Around 3 p.m. Thursday, the vehicle was parked at the Buckhorn Day Use Area along the Angeles Crest Highway, Hauptmann said.
“It should be noted that this area has been hit hard by the recent snowstorm,” he said.
“After Narineh’s vehicle was located, search and rescue personnel from the Sheriff’s Department in Los Angeles were immediately deployed with a major incident of sworn and volunteer personnel,” Hauptmann said. ; but due to the deteriorating weather conditions, the search was terminated around 02:00 (Friday) morning. A few hours later, the search could be resumed with even more resources and is currently active. “
Glendale police investigators were sent to examine the vehicle and tow it back to the police station for further processing, Hauptmann said.
