Hoping to answer the most pressing question residents have about the COVID-19 vaccine – when can they get it? The state on Monday expanded a pilot website where people can sign up to receive alerts on when they are eligible and then schedule an appointment. .

The MyTurn system is working on a trial basis for residents of Los Angeles and San Diego, with Gavin Newsom government saying the system will hopefully be available by early February.

The site, at MyTurn.ca.gov, allows people to enter their basic information and learn if it is currently available to receive a vaccination, and if so, they can plan a shot. People who are not yet eligible can provide information on age and occupation and register to receive an email or a text alert about when they can take a chance.

According to Newsom, the vaccine providers will be able to import faster, more up-to-date information on the number of shots administered, which solves a frustrating delay in reporting. It appears that fewer shots were given.

“We believe it is the most comprehensive end-to-end system of its kind in the United States,” Newsom said. ‘But once again we acknowledge that it is in the pilot phase.
