One of the big companies in the family history industry has developed new technology that converts still images into moving images.
Now people use MyHeritage’s ‘Deep Nostalgia’ photo animator feature to bring all kinds of historical photos to life.
MyHeritage launched Deep Nostalgia last week at RootsTech Connect, the largest family history conference in the world.
‘Do you sometimes wonder how your ancestors moved, smiled and looked in real life? You can now see your ancestors from generations as never before! ‘MyHeritage posted in a February 25 blog post. “This new addition to our range of photo instruments provides a realistic depiction of how a person could move out of an old photo and see if they were captured on video.”
The feature has helped some to gain a deeper connection with lost loved ones.
One person tweeted: “My mother died of cancer in 2017. … I never had happy videos of her. It comes from a photo of her as a teenager that is all smiling. I’m not crying hysterically or anything. ”

Since the announcement, Deep Nostalgia has become popular because people have used social media to share animated photos of famous individuals and artworks, including Mona Lisa, Ludwig van Beethoven, Abraham Lincoln, Frederick Douglass, Oscar Wilde, Nicola Tesla and Albert Einstein, use the hashtags # DeepNostalgia and #MyHeritage.
