Kotaku Games DiaryKotaku Games DiaryThe latest thoughts from a Kotaku staff about a game we’re playing.

Let me explain.

Final Fantasy XV is one of my ‘kids who got away’ – a game I really enjoyed without ever finishing, even though I came very close to the end. One day I will not sit down VF15 and walked away, as Andy Woody left. However, thanks to Xbox Game Pass, I have the opportunity to correct this noticeable bug in my video game, but also thanks to Xbox Game Pass, I only have nine days to complete the battle before it disappears forever.

Rest assured, I do not intend to grind; I’m going to play it like with any other game I’m interested in. When I recently played Kidney: Automata there were a few lost weekends or later than normal nights spent not serving until a deadline but just because I enjoyed the game, had nothing else to do and wanted to keep playing. I want to see if I look at a second glance Final Fantasy XV will inspire the same kind of dedication. And if that is not the case? It does not.

VF15 is the only non-sequel, non-MMO, non-remake Final fantasy that I have not finished since VII. I remember downloading it the moment it became available in 2016, and feeling upset about every little detail. I choked when I saw the VF15 logo spread across the screen, so crazy I was for new single player Final fantasy contents.

Instead of working from search to search, I remember wandering around the Regalia, rejoicing to the death that I could choose songs Final fantasyis over to accompany my road trip. I spent a lot of time just vibrating in that car to listen to Final Fantasy VIIIse “Overture“And”Liberi Fatali. ‘I clearly remember that I was eager to go chocobo riding, and expected what the new chocobo riding theme would sound like, and then extremely underwhelmed by’Rodeo de Chocobo. Facts in the face, nothing ever comes close XIIIse “Chocobo Wrist. ”) I remember how good Ignis’ cooking looked like and Prompto’s puppy-like enthusiasm for everything. I also clearly remember learning that “key” (as in Galdin Quay) was pronounced as ‘key’ and not as ‘key’.kweh”- the onomatopoeia for chocobo sounds.

Because I have already had time to hang out with Noctis and his emotional support for hombos, I do not think I will miss anything trying to lead the game over a much shorter time scale. I hope at least that the experience will remind me why I liked it so much the first time, and maybe this time will inspire me to see it through to the end. If I do not complete my quest and still want to play when the time is up, I will simply do what Game Pass is designed for and buy the game straight. When I get to the limit and no longer want to play, there is always Final Fantasy XVI on the horizon.

According to Xbox, Final Fantasy XV is set to release the Xbox Game Pass on January 29th. From now until then, I will provide regular (spoiler-light) updates on my progress through the world of Eos. I will also give preference to the completion of each of the character episodes that go along with the Royal edition, because I missed it too.

I’m leaving tonight and have nine days left to complete this journey. Congratulations, brothers, and chocobos.
