Olympic gold medalist gymnast Shawn Johnson, who is pregnant with her second child with Andrew East, revealed on Sunday that she tested positive for COVID-19.
The gold medalist at the 2008 Olympics revealed her coronavirus test results in a long note on her Instagram Stories.
“They came back positive for COVID,” Johnson, 29, wrote. “I’m not going to lie … I’m nervous and know I’m positive.”
The standout “Dancing With the Stars” revealed earlier this month that she is pregnant with the couple’s second child. Johnson said Sunday that “my body was just exhausted” after spending the past two weeks with the couple’s 15-month-old daughter Drew Hazel, who contracted RSV (respiratory syncytial virus).
“I do not want my family to get sick,” Johnson wrote, adding that she had had asthma all her life. “It scares me a little extra.”

Johnson said of Sunday she has a “cough, terrible sore throat and headache” as well as fatigue. She suspects her pregnancy is contributing to fatigue.
Johnson said she was announcing the news as a service.
“Not looking for any sorry party, just a reminder to take care of yourself,” the Nashville-based Johnson wrote, urging readers to drink water and wash their hands. She also felt that there is more empathy for others who go to health.
“Oh, and I just have to say, and pray so hard for all the babies out there (sloppy mom here) and everyone who is fighting for their health,” she wrote.
