MUSIC – Rock local: Vivió en los 80 y 90 su mejor epoca

In the finals of the 80th anniversary and the principles of the 90s, rock is at its best in a good part of the youth of our country.

At the moment, there are more than 40 groups that are involved in this musical genre and, above all, thank you for sharing the Las Olimpiadas Rock team, organized by Kim Sánchez.

“Rewind”, a documentary-concierto that pretends to be seen live in those years in the works of the musicians that it protagonizes, will be presented on Saturday, February 27 at 9:00 a.m. live streaming.

A special of more than hours of interviews and music in which participant Toque Profundo, Empihis, Cahobazul, I.0. , Tribu del Sol, Coral Negro, Máx Martínez (New Page y Tabutek) Etiqueta Negra, Transfusión, Penché, Razón Vital, JLS y Guaitiao, entre otros.

In this sense, this documentary will be like a species of “Rompan todo”, the Netflix series that pretends to tell the history of rock in Latin America, but as Tony Almont points out, we will have the power to make discourses that support it.

These are Allan Leschhorn, Lyle Reitzel, Máx Martínez and Tony Almont, four of the most important figures of local rock, hablan of what they live and what this musical style means in the Dominican Republic.

Empiphis band integrants; Cahobazul; New Page / Tabutek and Toque Profundo, respectively, come in the Rock Olympics a buoy that hizo more easily that youngsters of the ochenta are decided to form bands. “Created a unique space for the creation and diffusion of new talent,” recalls Martínez, who was in front of his band New Page, won this competition in 1987.

One year ago, Leschhorn, Empiphis’ guitarist, grabbed the album “De cara al futuro”, in 1987, praising the reputation of being among the bands and fidelity of a legion of followers.

Asimismo, Reitzel, with Cahobazul remembers the large number of presentations that debían hacer. “The itinerary was so strong that it was at the level of merengueros”, explains, and that the actions of the performers of “Gazcue is art”, (title of the disco that saccharon in 1989) not only in the capital, so that hiccups vary al binneland y consiguieron el patrocinio de licoreras.

It’s a time on Youtube and Spotify as it’s pasting discs, cassettes and later on compact discs, and listening to the music it’s enjoying at the moment, it’s not as easy as it used to be. “We’re like a tribute species, but when we read ‘La Nota diferente’, we empezamos to see many examples of rock in Spain”, commented Almont, voz / líder Toque Profundo, who in 1992 published his first disco, “Sueños y pesadillas del tercer mundo ”.

Causes del declive

However, this ebullition calms down and so many artists like fans, who run around the media sail of eda, will not go to other genres and sounds that are hiccups due to popular taste. “Quizas are disconnected in the form of communication with the public. This is the end of the invasion of other musical genres with the support of unlimited resources “, considers Leschhorn, who is a band, Empiphis launched this song” Everything is fine “, accompanied by a video.

Another element is the heck of a lot of the formabas these bands are studying and tomaron this stage as a moment of youth, but not being planted seramente ser hacerlo de manera professional. “When I graduated from university, I took a decision to follow the music, and as I did not have a precedent, we had to do it,” explains Almont, whose band Toque Profundo followed the canon, producing new music y haciendo vertonings.

Máx Martínez maintains that rock, like many other expressions, needs regeneration periods to discover new forms and adapt to new audiences. “At the local level we consider that our cambios have so many surprises without allowing them to regain respect for the rest of the world”, says the singer, who is preparing his first disco as a soloist in what follows exploring electronics / rock.

Lyle Reitzel, who has been following music in distinct projects, acaba to present his most recent song, “En La Sombrita (Periplos de Cuarentena)”, is positive. “Rock will never die. It happened through many crises, but it will always emerge ”, confia.
