In a Facebook post, Pushpika claims that Caroline injured her when she removed the crown. In the same post, she made it clear that she is not divorced but is currently divorced from her husband.
As a result of the scene incident, Caroline, as well as model Chula Padmendra, was arrested on April 8 on charges of simple hurt and criminal case. Since then, both have been released on bail.
In a press release from Mrs. World Inc. on April 5, the organization is said to be apologizing to Caroline. The statement read: “We are deeply upset and deplore the actions of our current title holder, Mrs Caroline Jurie, Mrs World 2020, during the award ceremony. Her actions are in breach of Mrs Sri Lanka’s code of conduct and predetermined regulations she is obliged to follow during her term of office. We will review the aforementioned incident and will take steps as deemed appropriate based on the outcome of our assessment. “
