The Moto Edge S launched earlier this year in China, although we did not know when it would come elsewhere. A new set of leaks indicates it will be renamed and introduced as the Moto G100 when it reaches other markets.
The leaks did not say when it would happen, but images thanks to TechnikNews and XDA developers Adam Conway shows versions of Moto G100 phones that look a lot like the Moto Edge S.
So here you go. Official versions of the Moto G100. It’s almost identical, only the colors change a bit. @AdamConwayIE x @TechnikNewsNET https://t.co/w8seF1xh24 # MotoG10013 March 2021
Just to be clear: the image at the top of the article is an official Motorola press photo of the Moto Edge S, while those in the leaks above are allegedly the Moto G100. They look like they have the same four-wheel-drive camera on the back, a dual punch-hole selfie camera on the front and a wide, slightly built-in lock button on the side (which can probably also serve as a fingerprint sensor like the Moto G Stylus ).
It is quite possible that the leaks accidentally name the former as the latter, but if true, we will eventually have an explanation for the G100 name found elsewhere, without much detail on what role the phone will play.
Moto G100: today’s flagship with yesterday’s specifications?
While the G100 in a list of non-released devices referred to by Google in the Play Store. For AR / ARCore documentation, we have not yet heard of the phone with the name. Assuming the G100 is a renamed Moto Edge S, we know a lot more.
To begin with, the Edge S package A Snapdragon 870 (basically a version of the leading Snapdragon 865 chipset with adjustments for the launch of last year’s 5G phones), a large Full HD Plus resolution screen with 90Hz refresh rate, a 5,000 mAh battery , 5G connection and a four-wheel-drive rear camera in front of a 64MP main lens.
The Edge S base configuration includes 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage for CNY 1,999 (approximately $ 309 / £ 220 / AU $ 399), which adds up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage for CNY 2,799 (approximately $ 433 / £ 310 / AU $ 559) increased. .
Of course, these prices can change, especially given the near-flagship specifications for mid-range prices. With the affordable G10 Power and the higher species Moto G30 now for sale in selected regions, and the Moto G40 Allegedly, we can see the Edge S / Moto G100 as a higher middle class or affordable flagship model released this year for markets unfamiliar with the Moto Edge brand.
