Munchel was arrested earlier in the week, but Eisenhart was arrested in Tennessee on Saturday and charged with conspiracy to commit conspiracy.
This is a striking development in the nationwide hunt for the perpetrators of the January 6 attack, which left five dead, including a Capitol police officer. Dozens have been arrested and the FBI is pursuing hundreds of cases, often based on images and videos posted by the rioters themselves on social media.
Prosecutors indicated they were predicting serious charges, including potentially ‘riotous conspiracy’, but began apprehending suspects on fewer offenses to start building a broader case.
Although Munchel was masked in the Senate statue, the FBI relied on open source information and clear spots and symbols on his clothing, as well as surveillance footage and other videos shot in the hotel where the couple was staying to identify them. They have since searched Munchel’s home and discovered the items seen in the Capitol picture, including a distinctive black hat from the Black Rifle Coffee Company hat with American flag and rifle logo, black boots, black camouflaged pants and shirt and black tactical vest with dots around one of a Punisher logo.
“Five pairs of white buoys were also found in MUNCHEL’s home,” the FBI noted.
According to the newly revealed case against the couple, Munchel and Eisenhart appear in video footage near a mob “attacking two Capitol police officers guarding the entrance to the Senate Halls.” Eventually the officers fled and the mob followed. Munchel and Eisenhart followed, both with the flexible cuffs in their hands ‘during the chase’. Both officers escaped, according to the statement of the case.
The FBI also quoted a January 10 news article in the Times of London quoting Munchel and Eisenhart discussing revolution.
“This country is based on revolution. “I would rather die a 57-year-old woman than live under oppression,” Eisenhart told the newspaper. I would rather die and fight instead. “
