Mossimo Giannulli leaves federal prison after serving five months due to college admission scandal

Mossimo Giannulli left federal prison in California where he served five months for his role in the nationwide college admissions scandal.

Online prison records viewed by Fox News confirm that the husband of actress Lori Loughlin has been transferred to RRM Long Beach, a residential access institution.

Giannulli, 57, has spent the past five months in a federal prison in Lompoc near Santa Barbara. He reported to jail in November, almost one month after Loughlin reported to FCI Dublin to complete her two-month sentence.

According to its website, RRM Long Beach is a “residential access management office.” These types of facilities provide federal offenders with “community-based services that will help their accession needs,” the website said.

It is unclear whether Giannulli returned to his actress wife and their two daughters, Olivia Jade and Isabella Giannulli. RRM Long Beach is an administrative facility only and the Bureau of Prisons did not immediately respond to Fox News’ requests for comment.

Lawyers for Giannulli also did not immediately respond.

Despite its transfer, Giannulli’s release date is still listed on April 17.

Back in January, a judge rejected Giannulli’s request to serve his sentence under ‘house solution’ after he was locked up in solitary confinement due to COVID-19.

Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton said in his court case that Giannulli’s circumstances behind bars were “heavier than they would have been, but for the pandemic”, but that there was insufficient reason to release him.

Giannulli served 56 days in solitary confinement after serving time in jail on November 19 for his five-month sentence.

In August, Loughlin and Giannulli pleaded guilty to charges of $ 500,000 payments to scam master William “Rick” Singer for recruiting their daughters to the University of Southern California crew. The two have never participated in the sport.

In a plea deal, Loughlin agreed to serve two months and pay a $ 150,000 fine, along with two years of supervised release and 100 hours of community service. Giannulli agreed to pay a $ 250,000 fine with two years of unsupervised release and 250 hours of community service, in addition to a five-month sentence.

The fashion designer addressed the court during his sentencing hearing in August and lamented that he was involved in the scandal.

“I deeply regret it … the damage my actions have caused my daughters, my wife and others. I take full responsibility for my behavior, I am willing to accept consequences and continue with the lessons I have learned from this has experience, ”said Giannulli.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristen Kearney called the five months he will serve “appropriate.” Kearney calls Giannulli’s crime more than ‘just zealous parenting’.
