Mortal Kombat co-creator and creative director of NetherRealm Studios, Ed Boon, recently shared a fantastic video compilation of a few different movements from Mortal Kombat 11says Jax recreates with no budget. The video, made by indie filmmaker Ayo The Creator, features both Jax Briggs’ Fatal Blow and Fatality recreated using props such as a Pringles look.
The video, which Boon shared on Twitter, is a fairly one-on-one recreation of Jax’s two moves with a slow-motion framework and character angles in line with the game’s actual moves. Although at one point a toy gun prop was used to replace Jax’s rifle, it’s actually the above Pringles can – or it could be ‘cans’ if the flickering effect looks green and then a red can swing back and forth – – in place of the explosive that really sells it. The “zero budget” Jax video is far from the only one in this style of Ayo The Creator. Their Instagram is full of different videos, including other Mortal Kombat videos like this with Scorpion and Sub-Zero. Since they seem to be aware of the fact that Ed Boon notices this, one can only imagine that more will be made in the future.
The all-in-one Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is available for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series consoles, Nintendo Switch, PC and Google Stadiums. It basically contains everything that has been released up to this point – except the latest skin packs – for the battle game along with the recent Kombat Pack 2 DLC featuring Rain, Mileena and Rambo.
