Morrissey slams ‘The Simpsons’ after the latest episode parodies him as a ‘big racist’

Morrissey issued a harsh rebuke to ‘The Simpsons’ after the animated sitcom unflatteringly parodied him during his latest episode.

Sunday’s episode, titled “Panic On The Streets Of Springfield”, sees 8-year-old Lisa Simpson fall in love with a 1980s British singer, voiced by guest star Benedict Cumberbatch with lyrics by the “Flight of the Conchords” star Bret McKenzie. After being sucked into his moody, sardonic lyrics, she adopts the singer as her imaginary girlfriend.

Although fictional star Quilloughby is well known and despite writer Tim Long telling Stereogum that the character was inspired by 80s rockers like Robert Smith of the Cure and Ian Curtis of Joy Division, viewers believed the Smiths -frontman Morrisey was much used to the character.

As the episode progresses, Lisa gets tickets to see the contemporary Quilloughby play, learning that the years have made her edgy, pessimistic outlook on life into a xenophobic carnivorous jerk willing to stage a reunion concert as a “cash grab” “after suing people who have meant things to him over the years.

Morrisey’s Facebook page, which Yahoo Entertainment notes, is run by his management company, Deckstar, initially looks excited for the parody delivery and shares a promotion for it on the page. After it aired, however, they clearly took note of the negative portrayal and responded to it with a long and harsh rebuke from the program.

“It’s amazing what’s a turn for the worst ‘for writing The Simpson’s television show over the past few years,” the report began. “Unfortunately, The Simpson’s show started by creating great insight into the modern cultural experience, but has since degenerated into trying to capitalize on cheap controversy and lay out cruel rumors. Having fun on topics is one “Other programs like SNL are still doing an excellent job of finding ways to inspire great satire.”

The report describes specific examples in the episode that the singer had to deal with.

‘But if a show runs so low to use harsh hateful tactics as to show the Morrissey character with his belly hanging from his shirt (if he’s never looked like this at some point in his career), makes you wonder who the real hurtful, racist group is here, “the statement continued.” Even worse – calling out the Morrissey character because he’s a racist, without pointing to specific cases, offers nothing. It only serves to insult the artist. They have to take the mirror and keep it to themselves. “

The statement discusses the recent apology made by Hank Azaria for expressing the character of Apu Nahasapeemapetilon after years of backlash from the Indian-American community that arose through a documentary documentary in 2017.

‘THE SIMPSONS’ PREDICTED THE FUTURE MANY TIMES – HERE IS THE LIST

“Simpson’s actor Hank Azaria’s recent apology to the whole country of India for his role in upholding ‘structural racism’ says it all,” reads the statement. “Unlike the character in Simpson’s ‘Panic’ episode.”

The lengthy statement posted on behalf of Morrissey was concluded by once again exposing the specific insults that hampered the show in the final act of the episode.

“Morrissey has never made a ‘cash grab’, has not sued anyone for their attacks, has never stopped giving great shows and is still a serious vegan and strong supporter of animal rights. Through all of the above in this episode before “the hypocritical approach of the Simpson to their storyline says it all,” the report concludes. “These are truly the only ones who have stopped creating and rather become unapologetically hurt and racist.”
