Dana White is not going to pay Snoop Dogg anything.
On Saturday, YouTube sensation Jake Paul knocked out former Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren in the thriller of the Triller Fight Club. Immediately after the fight, multi-platinum recording artist and Triller co-owner Snoop Dogg, who hosted the event, jumped on the microphone and started shouting “Dana White, where’s my money?” refers to an alleged bet White made on Askren beating Paul. But when he spoke to Kevin Iole of Yahoo on Monday, White stated that no such bet had ever been made.
“I do not even want to say it. I do not even want to say what I think happened in that fight, ”White said when asked to comment on the fight. ‘But I can tell you, I do not owe Snoop $ 2 million. I’ve never bet – let me make it clear to everyone: I’ve never made an illegal bet. I did not place an illegal bet on Saturday night. I did not bet $ 2 million with Snoop or anyone. ”
The origin of this comes from an appearance on Mike Tyson’s podcast where White discussed the fight with Zab Judah and Mike Tyson and told Judah that he would bet a million dollars that Askren would win. Hence, Snoop Dogg on TMZ tried to double it and said he would bet White $ 2 million. White never accepted the bet in public, nor did he do so in private.
“Javier Mendez called me just after I did the Mike Tyson podcast. ” They want to bet you $ 2 million. ‘I said,’ It’s illegal! ‘ First of all, I’m not going to make an illegal bet, number one and number two, why would I bet them $ 1 million or $ 2 million if I could do it legally in Las Vegas and get two-to-one? ‘
However, it’s not just the alleged bet that makes White annoying. After his victory Saturday, a number of high-profile UFC fighters threw out their names as possible opponents for Paul, and Paul and his team responded in kind and spoke to Askren’s teammate Tyron Woodley and even the former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight . champion Daniel Cormier, and continuing to target UFC fighters for boxing matches does not appear to be White’s favorite thing.
“Why are you not going to fight a boxer?” White said. ‘What are these guys talking to UFC guys about? I’ll have to slap them with another f *** ing legal letter, these f *** ing idiots. Go talk to boxers. What are you doing?”
However, this is not bad for White and the Triller Fight Club team. White was a longtime boxing enthusiast who never missed an opportunity to weaken the sport, but actually gave props to Paul and the company to find the right niche and make the most of it.
“It’s not my thing, but that does not mean it’s not others’ things,” White said. ‘If you look at this whole Jake Paul thing that’s going on right now, boxing goes on like this (move hand down). This is the right guy with the right shtick at the right time. This guy plays this thing perfectly, and boxing is in such a bad place, they do a very good job of sucking people in to buy this thing. And good for him. ”
