The General Directorate of Migration revealed that during the year 2020 the repatriation body to its country had 23,724 foreigners, of which 23,664 correspond to Haitian citizens who are found residing in the Dominican Republic, without any legal status.
Asimismo, the institution indicates that there are 7,147 different countries that will be forced to enter national territory this year, claiming that the differences are not met with the requirements of Law 285-04, which govern the migration system.
In its information, Migration expresses that many foreigners who have been repatriated to the national territory, are dedicated to different productive activities, as opposed to the documents and authorization of the institution’s status.
Figuran among those cities of 19 countries, in its large majority Haitian foreigners; also Albania, Argelia, China, Granada, Canada, Colombia, Brazil, Georgia, Cuba, Venezuela, United States, Mexico, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Ukraine, Spain and Bulgaria.
It is recalled that this year, the Dominican governing mantle carried the terrestrial fronts and areas since March until July, with the proposal to detain the propagation of coronavirus Covid-19 in the country.
During these five months, the frontiers and national and international airports of the Dominican Republic were suspended. During this period of crisis, the deportations of Haitian nationalists were carried out in humanitarian matters.
Voluntary Return
The migration statistics reveal that the passage during the pandemic was one of 217,668 foreigners voluntarily returning to its original lands encroaching on the mayor’s share of the Haitian nationalities who were transferred to their lands through the land.
