More than 1000 World of Warcraft Classic players play together to create a “fresh” leveling experience • Eurogamer.net

More than a thousand World of Warcraft players work together to create a “fresh” experience in the classic version of the game.

In the absence of new incoming servers – that is, brand new – from the first vanilla servers for World of Warcraft Classic – those who are only now eager to play the famous MMO as in 2004, and they play in world-filled areas with players on the highest level and bottle.

In response, players gathered en masse to ‘reload’ the vanilla experience on one of the least populated servers.

The Fresh Crusade is the result, a community project that currently has 1300 players strong and will launch on Friday 5 March with a massive re-roll event. Seven guilds are involved, with players from around the world ready to create new characters on a low-population PvP server, with the explicit goal of creating a fresh experience for all.

Caszhar, the player who started The Fresh Crusade, told me about Discord that there are many players who want to start Classic again in a server that has a ‘fresh’ launch feel, one that offers the leveling and shared experience that people can not be easily found on existing servers.

“Blizzard announced Burning Crusade Classic without new servers and made no mention of what will happen to the existing low population / dead servers, except that it indicates that the potential new servers may emerge after the Burning Crusade Classic launch,” he said. Caszhar said.

One of the big issues as Caszhar sees it is that players will feel left out due to bottling and economic inflation when Burning Crusade Classic starts later in 2021.

“This makes sense especially in the current situation where most servers do not have a leveling scene, with players getting away from 1-60 with issues finding groups for dungeons / group searches, which is an integral part of the WoW Classic. travel is., ‘said Caszhar.

Bottle leads to real money transactions (RMT), such as selling gold in the game for real money. In turn, bottling pushes legitimate players out of the economy, affecting crafting and money-making in-game.

For example, players who want to make money by collecting careers are pushed out of the market because they compete with AI-controlled players who hold all the resources.

Those who try to make money through trades and need a rare resource that is regularly bottled may find it more difficult to afford the rare resource of the auction house due to economic inflation caused by bottling. The vicious cycle is then complete when frustrated players find it more difficult to raise the necessary resources to earn the money to afford these high auction house prices.

Attacks can also fuel this issue. GDKPs – a type of raid in which players toss gold on coveted raid items instead of a dice to see who gets the loot – can spend large amounts of RMT gold on items. At the end of the raid, the non-copper participants get all the gold offered between them. This gold then goes into the virtual economy, which causes inflation and prices to rise further.

Unfortunately, bots are common on all WoW Classic servers, even with the lowest population. But servers with a lower population usually do not have very inflated economies because players do not buy gold on them, and they do not buy gold on them because there are not many players.

The Fresh Crusade will target a server with a low population, to give players the chance to get the best “fresh” experience despite this bottle problem.

“If we all start together, the economy will be a level playing field compared to the higher / medium-sized population servers,” Caszhar said.

Looking at the launch of Classic Burning Crusade, Caszhar is optimistic that the “pre-patch” period will be of great benefit to those who want to start WoW Classic from scratch.

Pre-patch is the patch that puts the new Burning Crusade races (the Blood Elves and the Draenei) into play, and is expected about two weeks before Classic Burning Crusade starts properly.

It is expected that a flood of players returning to the game and leveling up from the front as the new races will make a spark. Theoretically, it will provide a healthy leveling experience over the two-week period.

“There’s plenty of time for TBC release releases and for people who participate in The Fresh Crusade to experience the content of the game, participate in raids and form their groups of friends and communities,” Caszhar said.

Caszhar is hopeful that The Fresh Crusade can hit more than 2,000 players with the launch on March 5th. “The support of people joining this has been heartwarming to see,” Caszhar said. “People are very excited to start on Friday, so here’s definitely a hype train. People understand that at the moment Blizzard only entertained the ideas of new servers after the launch of the crusade, and that’s why they joined joined this project as ‘the next best thing’. “

If you want to catch up, The Fresh Crusade has a community center on Discord.
