More bad recruiting news for Duke

Choice Sunday is finally here, as the university basketball begins to spin in 2020-21. While the UNC basketball program waits for their seed in the NCAA Tournament, matters seem to them a month after the team was on the bubble.

This past season has not been a great one for the tarmacs as they have had a big part in the fight and found themselves on the bubble just a month ago. But it can be worse.

UNC’s blue-blooded rival along the road in Durham, Duke, has struggled this year and is unlikely to make it to the NCAA Tournament. While Duke has struggled and will finish just over 500 this year, things are going so well on the recruiting route as well.

It looks like their biggest yard target, Patrick Baldwin, is destined to end up in Milwaukee to play for his dad, and likely turn down the Blue Devils and Tar Heels. This past week, their chances for another big yard in their board got a knock.

Five-star shooter Trevor Keels is one of the top uninvolved recruits remaining in the 2021 class, considering Duke, Villanova and Kentucky. While Keels was once considered by some to be a lie to Duke, the odds seem to be diminishing.

Villanova picked up three Crystal Ball predictions for Keels and all three come from Duke insiders on 247 Sports. They currently hold three of the four predictions with only Eric Bossi picking Duke back in February.

The 6-foot, 210-pound throat is overall number 20, number 3 on his position and the no. 1-player in the state of Virginia according to the 247 Sports Recruitment rankings. He once considered the tar heel, but took it out of contention in 2020.

This is an interesting development, as Duke got off to a good start with their recruiting class, beating out Paolo Banchero and AJ Griffin, who are both Top 10 players. Many believed they were starting at least a few more five, but that could be in jeopardy.

Hey, you will not see any UNC fans complaining.
