Monster Hunter fans have a date with a newly hatched baby Rathalos on July 9, when Capcom launches Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin for the Nintendo Switch and Steam.

The original Monster Hunter Stories appeared in 2016 for the Nintendo 3DS, offering gamers a new way to communicate with the series’ mighty creatures. Instead of hunting and killing, players steal monster eggs and befriend monsters and use them to take part in turn fights. It’s basically a relaxed Monster Hunter games. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin play players as the descendants of a legendary monster rider who must solve the mystery of the disappearance of the world’s dragon-like Rathalos with their own baby dragon friend. You can catch the new trailer in 30 minutes in the video from Capcom’s streaming Monster Hunter event from earlier this morning.

I look forward to another single-player-centered Monster Hunter experience. Almost as much as I look forward to the Tsukino Amiibo figure accompanying the release.
