Monster Hunter Stories 2 lands on a computer in July

Capcom has brought out good news for Monster Hunter fans playing on PC. The upcoming Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings Of Ruin will be launched on PC in July at the same time as the Nintendo Switch release. However, do not sharpen your blades yet, this is the Monster Hunter spin-off where you will befriend giant monsters instead of hunting on them. Look, look at that player and Pukei-Pukei in harmony. It’s somehow friends. Oh, and Wings Of Ruin also has a co-op mode for your real friends.

“Grow, raise and live with monsters as a Monster Rider in this fun RPG series in the Monster Hunter universe,” says Capcom. “Our epic story begins with the massive disappearance of Rathalos from around the world. At the beginning of the story, you meet a Wyverian girl who knew your famous grandfather, Red. She is an egg entrusted, but what’s in it? ”

No points to guess that it’s a Rathalos egg before you see the new trailer here.

With Wings Of Ruin you can form bonds with monsters – these are called ‘monsters’ here, which you will recognize if you have done part of the monster hunt in the past. There are, among others, the Legiana, Anjanath, Pukei-Pukei and that terribly annoying Kulu-Ya-Ku. This is essentially Pokémon meet How To Train Your Dragon in my mind.

Capcom allows that there will also be a co-op component for up to four players where you can collaborate with friends for quests.

My two cents is that it would be nice to do a little monsterry instead of hunting. I’ve only sunk my teeth into a bit of Monster Hunter: World in the past, but I admit I always get a little sad at the end of the hunt. Chasing these giant creatures trying to escape me and my relentless hunter friends is a little grim. I would be much happier to be girlfriends with them. Even the Kulu-Ya-Ku.

It’s good to see a MonHunt game move to a computer at the same time as a console launch. Monster Hunter: World was released a few months behind the console versions on a computer. Upcoming Monster Hunter Rise launches on the Nintendo Switch later this month and is expected on a PC early next year.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings Of Ruin will be released on July 9th. It will be available on Steam, though a store page does not appear to be available yet.
