Monroe woman accidentally gave salt instead of COVID-19 vaccine :: WRAL.com

Lisa Strawn has many questions after she said she and her husband walked into the Walgreens in Fincher Street in Monroe on March 20 and found what they believe was the Pfizer vaccine.

“Around 5:30 they called us and told us to come back the next day, that there was a mixture with our lap,” she said. “You wonder how that can even happen?”

Strawn was told the pharmacist forgot to mix the vaccine and they only got a salt intake.

“My question was, ‘Well, if we got the straight Pfizer, you know, without diluting it?’ And I never really got an answer from it, ‘she said.

It is still unclear how many people got the wrong injection.

“There were several people they had to call because there was like a big stack of papers,” Strawn said. “And I asked the man, and I said, ‘How did you find out we only got salt?’

Strawn said the employee she spoke to said there was too much vaccine left at the end of the day, and then they realized something was wrong.

In a statement, Walgreens said he was contacting affected people and rescheduling their dose, adding: “We are investigating what happened and took immediate steps to review our location procedures to prevent them from happening again.”

“I just thought it was important for people to know, just be careful,” Strawn said. “You know, look behind them.”
