Monica Rambeau just had a very special moment in the latest episode of “WandaVision”. Teyonah Parris’ character has been an important part of the show so far, but she now looks to be an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future after the unveiling of episode seven.

Fans have been speculating for some time now that Monica Rambeau could gain superpowers as a result of the entrance and exit of Wanda’s Westview, which is surrounded by energy frontiers.

In the comics, Rambeau is also known as the superhero Photon / Pulsar, and more recently also Spectrum. She gained her powers after being struck by extraterrestrial energy and is known as the second Captain Marvel.

Up until episode seven, Rambeau was a captain for SWORD to help agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) and acting director Tyler Hayward (Josh Stamberg) figure out what’s going on with Westview. Now, however, Rambeau seems to have had her origin story as Photon.

While in the comics, the extra-dimensional energy comes from a weapon that disrupts the energy, the energy that hit Rambeau in the show comes from the force field around Wanda’s Westview. She’s been through the force field a few times already, but after Wanda extended the Westview ray in episode six, the walls of energy seemed stronger than ever in this latest episode.

They were so strong that Rambeau could not get through with a heavily armored spacecraft. Instead, she walked through alone in a trippy series where we heard the voices of several key characters, including a young Monica, her mother Maria, Nick Fury and Marvel captain Carol Danvers herself.

The voices also spoke of Maria, Monica’s mother, and included a dialogue of ‘Captain Marvel’, while Monica forced her through the energy barrier. The last line in the series comes from Danvers: “Your mother is happy. When they handed out children, they gave her the hardest one.”

This gave Monica the strength to push through, and she came out into Westview with glowing blue eyes and heightened vision.

Her new outfit inside the static wall was also important. The colors and pattern look a lot like the superhero costume of Photon from the comics, which fans loved.

After that we had to see how Wanda and Monica stand in front of each other and conclude in Monica’s first superhero landing ever.

Monica Rambeau was first played by Akira and Azari Akbar as an eleven-year-old and a five-year-old in ‘Captain Marvel’, respectively. Monica’s mother, Maria, played a major role in Lashana Lynch.

Maria died during the five-year-old Blip caused by ‘Avengers: Infinity’, in which Monica was abducted only to return to the events of ‘Endgame’. Monica looks to be a key player in the MCU going forward and will appear in “Captain Marvel 2”.
