A mother in Texas speaks out after her 5-year-old daughter was placed in the intensive care unit after contracting a life-threatening COVID-related illness that affects children. Peyton (5), daughter of Tara Copeland, was diagnosed with multisystem inflammation in children, or MIS-C, at the end of December, about one month after Copeland and her husband both tested positive for COVID-19 and the couple’s five children. , including Peyton, also showed symptoms of the virus. Weeks after the seven members of the Copeland family all recovered from COVID-19, Peyton woke up on Christmas morning with a low degree of fever and headache.
