A Turkish mother saved her four children from an apartment fire in Istanbul by throwing them out of a third-floor window, heartbreaking video shows.
The incident took place on Wednesday in a five-storey building in the Esenler district on the European side of Istanbul.

A video taken from the street shows the mother dropping each child out of the window as a cloud of black smoke flows through the opening. Community members can be seen under the window sticking out a blanket to catch the children.
A neighbor who saw the incident described the scene to the Turkish newspaper Daily Sabah.

“First, black smoke started coming out,” the neighbor said. “Then the children started shouting at the windows. And we opened the blankets. A woman threw the children down from above. So, we caught four children with blankets.”
Local authorities told the point of sale that all four children were safe and in good condition. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire.
