Molson Coors says cyber attack affects brewing operations

Molson Coors Beverage Co. said Thursday he was hit by a cyber attack that disrupted his breweries and shipments.

In a regulatory application, the Chicago company said it had hired forensic information technology experts and legal advisers to investigate the incident.

“The company is working 24 hours a day to set up its systems as quickly as possible,” Molson Coors said in the submission.

Molson Coors declined to say how many facilities were affected. The company operates seven breweries and packaging plants in the US, three in Canada and ten in Europe.

In addition to the namesakes, it also includes Miller Lite, Pilsner Urquell and Blue Moon.

Molson Coors also declined to say whether the cyberattack was related to a global hack server using Microsoft Exchange email software. This violation affects small businesses, law firms, city governments and manufacturers.

This is not the first time a major liquor manufacturer has been targeted in a cyber attack.
