One model’s allegation that he was sexually assaulted by Alexander Wang at a crowded New York City club in 2017 sparked an attack on the allegations against the well-known designer.

Owen Mooney, a model and graphic designer, came up with his story in some TikTok videos that went viral on Monday.

In the first video, Mooney claims that he was ‘touched’ by a ‘very famous designer’ while he and his friends saw the rapper CupcakKe perform at a club three years ago. He only provided a name in the second video, after commentators suggested it was Wang.

“I was alone at one point, and this guy next to me obviously benefited from the fact that no one could move,” Mooney said.

And he just started touching me. Like, completely on my leg, in my crotch. It made me completely freeze because I was in so much shock.

“Then I look left to see who it was and it was a very famous fashion designer and I just could not believe he did it to me.”

He described the incident as ‘really annoying’ and said he had to move ‘slowly’ away from the designer he described in his second video as a ‘sexual predator’.

On Monday, Mooney’s account was included in more than a dozen Instagram and Twitter messages by industry watchdog Sh * t Model Management (SMM), the majority of which were shared through screenshots of allegations submitted by anonymous users.

Some accused, including transgender men and women and cisgender men, told stories that were like Mooney’s. Others claim that Wang unknowingly intoxicated their drinks with MDMA.

Representatives of Wang did not respond to DailyMail.com for several requests for comment.

The designer, who became famous for his star-studded parties after the success of his launch of the fashion label in 2005, declined to comment when WWD and InStyle approached him.

“With everything that has come to light, I want to focus on the many allegations that flooded in after I shared my story,” Mooney said Monday. “Although what happened to me was unacceptable, the stories other victims tell are the reason I became public.”

Mooney did not return several requests for comment from DailyMail.com, but released a brief statement on Monday.

“With everything that has come to light, I want to focus on the many allegations that flooded in after I shared my story,” Mooney said according to Insider.

“Although what happened to me is unacceptable, the stories that other victims tell me are the reason I became public.”

Insider also spoke to another accused, Nick Ward, who claims Wang ‘grabbed’ his cross at a DJ event in Brooklyn in 2017.

“As he passes, he swings, pushes me and keeps walking,” Ward said.

“By the time I realized what had happened, I was just announcing to my friend, ‘that guy’s just grabbing my d ** k’ and they’re all like, ‘it was Alexander Wang. ‘

Ward first outlined the incident on September 11, 2017 in a Twitter thread shared on Instagram by fashion bill Diet Prada, which boasts more than 2.3 million followers.

Both Diet Prada and SMM called on their followers to boycott Wang’s brand in light of the allegations.

“Alexander Wang is a suspected sexual predator, many male models and trans models have come out and talked about the alleged sexual abuse that Alexander Wang inflicted on them,” reads the publication of SMM.

“It is important to show your support for these victims by following Alexander Wang and boycotting his clothing line.”

One of the unnamed defendants who spoke to SMM claims their friend, a trans man, was driving in a limo with Wang a while ago when the designer offered him water and made sure he drank everything.

“A few moments later, they noticed they were rolling and giving molly water,” the anonymous person claims.

“It was a regular occurrence, because a year after I told this story, I also heard other people confirm that they too were intoxicated on the way to an after-party.”

Another alleged victim also claims that Wang did the same ‘Molly water trick on me’, while in 2014 he accused a third of drugging two friends.

Diet Prada has claimed that the allegations against Wang have been circulating for months, if not years.

In its report, the account shared screenshots of the Instagram stories posted by rapper Azealia Banks in 2019, which included anonymous allegations against Wang.

While Banks’ posts have since disappeared from her Instagram, they have been screened and archived by Twitter users.

Wang dismissed the comment on his latest Instagram post on Monday. The official Instagram account for his brand did the same on all his posts.

WWD spoke to a lawyer, Harley Lewin, who has worked with Wang on various intellectual property cases in the past, about the scandal spreading on social media.

Lewin said he does not represent Wang, but considers him a ‘friend and a colleague’.

‘I do not know that he is stepping over the line, so to speak. “I know him as a very nice, considerate caring person,” he said.

He did not comment on the specific allegations against Wang, but spoke broadly about similar situations.

“I was on both sides of these situations,” Lewin said. ‘There are compelling reasons why one treats the allegation of misconduct with respect and credibility. People need to come forward and expose themselves to ridicule or other equally nasty things that happen to people on the internet. ‘

‘The other side of it is that it is honestly said that there is often a level of innocence or stupidity. Old-school people who act at old school are not sensitive without the intention, but still step outside the line. ‘

Lewin said he was personally ‘wrongly accused’, without providing further details, as he urged the public not to come to conclusions.

“I have great sympathy with both sides,” he said. ‘I would simply like to request that people have sufficient credibility to be heard on both sides. And that people refrain from making statements based on allegations and complaints of public statements in the press. ‘

Fashion advocacy organization Model Alliance issued a statement on Tuesday in support of Wang’s defendants.

“We at Model Alliance stand in solidarity with those who shared Alexander Wang’s allegations of sexual abuse,” reads an Instagram post.

“Let it be clear: the fashion industry’s lack of transparency and accountability leaves all models vulnerable to abuse, regardless of their gender or gender identity.”
