The Chicago Bears moved on from the Mitchell Trubisky era and signed Andy Dalton in the process. Although things did not end as I’m sure Trubisky would have liked it to, he found a new home in Buffalo.
As reported last week, Trubisky signed a $ 2 million one-year bill agreement, with $ 1.5 million guaranteed, along with a $ 500,000 bonus. He could earn up to $ 4.5 million, with $ 2 million incentives, but that would take some playing time.
On Monday, Trubisky colored in the deal and officially made it the Bills’ rugby quarterback.

Although their chapter in Chicago is over – for now – it seems like there are no hard feelings at their end. Trubisky was one of the most polarizing figures while playing quarterback for the Bears. Trubisky put the team first, stayed out of trouble, was always good with the media, was a good representative for the Bears – friendly and a good role model for children and won football matches. Even after all this, it seemed like he could never take a breather with fans, former players and the media.
To be honest, Trubisky went 25-13 under Matt Nagy, throwing 57 throws, 30 interceptions and completing 65.3% of his passes. He also won the playoffs twice (0-2) and in 2018 won the Pro Bowl.
Trubisky holds the record for most passing yards by a Bears rookie fullback, along with the fastest fullback to reach 10,000 yards in a Bears jersey.
He leaves the Bears rankings first in the rankings (minimum 300 attempts), fifth place in passing, fifth place in passing and fifth place in victory. Not a bad run in just 50 starts. Trubisky is also the only NFL fullback to have played 50 plus games and not picked a sixth in his career.
For Trubisky ahead, Bills’ GM Brandon Beane sees him not staying in Buffalo for long:
“It’s a huge recovery for him, and we do not expect him to be here in the long run,” he said. “Hopefully in a year he will have the chance to sign a nice contract and a starting job somewhere.”
Working with the same group that helped Josh Allen make an impressive leap from Year 2 to Year 3 would help Trubisky improve as a quarterback. If Trubisky can make a leap of his own and earn a chance to start somewhere in 2022, the decision to come to Buffalo would be a good decision.
