As increasing numbers of Democrats called on Republican minority leader Kevin McCarthy to remove the first-year congresswoman from her committee appointments, the House Rules Committee said Monday that it would submit a resolution Tuesday.
The resolution alleges that Green violated clause 1 of House Rule 23, which reads: ” A member, delegate, resident commissioner, officer or employee of the house shall at all times behave in a manner worthy of the house reflect. ‘
In a statement sent to Newsweek on Monday, Greene said the Democrats and the ‘Fake News Media’ ‘pursue her’ because she’s ‘a threat to their goal of socialism’ and represents ‘the people, not the politicians.’ She has never publicly rejected any of her beliefs in the above conspiracy theories.
GOP House minority leader Kevin McCarthy said he plans to meet with Greene to discuss her extremist beliefs.
“These remarks are deeply disturbing and leader McCarthy plans to have a conversation with the congresswoman about it,” McCarthy spokesman Mark Bednar told Axios last week.
