Mitch Haniger and Ty France come to work on a Sunday so Mariners & Astros can relax in the sun

Could we all be so lucky to have some collaborators like Mitch Haniger and Ty France. Do you feel bad and need to cover a shift? Ty’s have you. Away behind and overwhelmed? Mitch can take up some of the busy work and will vouch for you at the next big meeting. U no. 7 and no. 8 starting pitchers, a waiver claim, a minor league signing, a converted mediocre AAA starter and a closer with three blown savings that are all in less than three weeks make inexplicable a one-hit, but you are still do not outsmart your opponents?

There are many days in which the score does not tell the whole story, but today my job can be just as easy as hitting this picture and letting someone who could not make it into the game find out what happened:

For most of the afternoon, the Seattle Mariners were more interested in a faithful sequel to last night’s Zack Greinke gem than a brave departure to the genre. Despite a beautiful first innings where they pushed the Astros starter, Jake Odorizzi, to nearly 40 spots and hit a run on an Evan White disc, it looks like the Houston signing in early spring spacecraft struck right and crossed through the fourth when he saw his side on a sun double missed by José Marmolejos in left field who …

Look. I’m upset it’s not caught. This is not a play, and we saw the Sun play much better defenders than Marmo, but with the benefit of hindsight, that was the difference between a one-hit and a no-hit. I appreciate that Marmo, pictured above with the .806 OPS in the field count, is currently one of about four good hits in Seattle’s everyday lineup, and I can not wait for someone to return from IL or be called upon to tackle his representatives. . . In all honesty, he could be suitable for several decent teams that need a 1B / cOF, including the Nationals organization that has never called him up for more than half a decade.

BUT, it was a 99.7 mph laser that flew 379 feet. In most of the park, it’s three runs instead of one at this mid-level 88.7 mph from Nick Margevicius to a left mask in Aledmys Díaz. It’s rare, Rare the worst case, and I will not sleep on it or Marmo myself.

Who are likely to go to bed are Jake Odorizzi and Myles Straw, who conspired to open the game for Seattle in third place. Taylor Trammell crushed a single, Tom Murphy stood in line, and JP Crawford, for all his foibles took a turn and put the white dwarf in the series in a position to inflict damage, despite the relative lack issued to uncle in the back half of the order. Houston tracked down the disillusioned Odorizzi in favor of left-hander Brooks Raley, who made two appearances before receiving a one-time offer to have his goods purchased 100%, which would take effect immediately in Edgar’s Cantina. Allow me to quickly give a scientific assessment of people who, like Dave Sims, knew it was a certified Yukon Gold off the bat.

I’ve said before that I’m a fan of Dave Sims, which was not always the case. He makes mistakes, sees soft fly balls being carried in that do not move, and occasionally screams. But such moments are where Sims deserves everything for me and then for some. The energy, 9k fans and all, is palpable and Sims fits that. A decade of collaborating with Mike Blowers has resulted in a somewhat surprising broadcast duo, but these hits, where Sims opens the play with his euphoria, then Blowers comes up with a more calm, yet pleasant and proud piece of analysis. the two’s best calls, like the memorable Nelson Cruz lifeline in Game 161. This year’s team has given them more to work with than I expected.

Seattle (read: Haniger and France) added two more runs in the 7th time with some doubles, but with how their bullpen filled things up, they could have tackled it early. Margevicius left early in the fifth period with an injury that initially looked like but later reported mere fatigue, and Ljay Newsome earned a beer bath after the game with two exclusion frames to secure his first career victory.

Even more excitingly, Seattle once again uses its best relief in its higher leverage situations, earning the enjoyment of millions (read: I). Anthony Misiewicz trampled Kyle Tucker to a 3-2 HBP for Jason Castro in the relief of Casey Sadler in the 7th with a runner to suppress the closest thing of a pointing threat that Houston posed in the back half of the game . In the eighth, with the heart of the exhausted Astros series, Scott Servais put his trust in Rafael Montero, despite early battle, still the club’s best reliever. Montero put Yuli Gurriel, Michael Brantley and Carlos Correa in 10 places without a hint of danger.
