MISSOULA – Missoula County officials have announced that the vaccination of COVID-19 for Phase 1B + will begin on March 15.
The change will include appointments for the clinics in the Missoula City-County Health Department (MCCHD) scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
Phase 1B + extends the fitness for people aged 60 and older, as well as the ages of 16-59 years with certain health conditions:
- Asthma (moderate to severe)
- Cerebrovascular disease (affects blood vessels and blood supply to the brain)
- Cystic fibrosis
- Immuno-compromised state (weakened immune system) due to blood or bone marrow transplantation, immune deficiency, HIV, use of corticosteroids, or the use of other immunosuppressive drugs
- Neurological conditions, such as dementia
- Liver disease
- Pulmonary fibrosis (with damaged or scar tissue)
- Thalassemia (a type of blood disorder)
- On a case-by-case basis, medical providers may include individuals with other conditions that put them at increased risk for COVID-19-related complications.
Missoula County now has three providers who own public vaccine clinics.
The MCCHD clinics are housed in the former Lucky’s Market location in the Southgate Mall, the clinics in the University of Montana Health Services Pharmacy are in the Adams Center and the Partnership Health Center vaccination takes place at the Missoula County Fairgrounds .
As of Monday, the clinics are open to Missoula County residents in Phase 1B +. Residents can find information on when appointments are available here, or by calling 406-258-INFO daily between 08:00 and 17:00.
At next week’s MCCHD clinics, about 500 first-dose Pfizer vaccine appointments are available for Monday, and about 300 first-dose Moderna and 230 first-dose Pfizer vaccine appointments are available for Tuesday.
Appointments will open online on Thursday at 13:00. The link to make an appointment will be available on the Vaccination Information page.
Those who do not have internet access for people who are not proficient online can call 406-258-INFO, option 3, to call an appointment at 13:00 on Thursday.
Organizers are asking that people who have the opportunity to plan online make an appointment on the website instead of calling so that the call center can help those who need it most.
