“As soon as officers arrived on the scene, they found Gauthier’s personal belongings – including her phone – inside and dragged her car to a rubble,” WAFB reported.
The search was narrowed after a K-9 carcass dog warned the same area of the river twice earlier Saturday, the school said in its statement.
The statement said conditions in the area were unsafe and divers were not deployed, but the mounted patrol will search a river bank on Sunday and the latest solar technology will be used by law enforcement on boats.
Law enforcers believe no criminal activity or foul play has taken place, based on the evidence gathered, the statement said.
The police’s police department had contact with Gauthier’s parents and they share privacy with them, LSU said.
Gauthier’s father, Levar Gauthier, joined the search on Friday and the family held a vigil near the place where her car was found on Friday night, according to WAFB.
CNN added Baton Rouge police for additional details about the crash and the search.
