Minnesota waltz declares state of emergency before ruling on Derek Chauvin

Minnesota Democrat Tim Walz’s government declared a state of emergency in the provinces around Minneapolis on Monday night as the city prepares for the verdict in the Derek Chauvin murder trial.

Fox 9 reports that Walz held a news conference outlining his plans to maintain security. He said the state is bringing in police backing from Nebraska and Ohio. The report found that the Minnesota Senate approved $ 9 million in emergency funding to deal with potential unrest.

“We can not live like this,” he said. “We simply can not. But we can not burn thousands of businesses and endanger people.”

The murder case against Chauvin in the death of George Floyd was submitted to the jury on Monday. The jury of six whites and six people who are black or multiracial began deliberating after almost a full day of closing arguments.
