Utah Jazz point guard Mike Conley has been selected as a replacement for Devin Booker, a Phoenix Suns guard, in Sunday’s All-Star Game, the NBA announced on Friday.
Conley, 33, has averaged 16.1 points, 5.7 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 29 games this season as he continues to bounce back from a grim 2019-20 campaign. The Jazz now have three players in the All-Star Game, with Conley joining Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.
Booker, who averaged 24.9 points, 4.4 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game, was selected as a reserve during Team Durant’s All-Star draft. According to the NBA announcement, the Phoenix star is sprained with a left knee.
Commissioner Adam Silver selected Conley as a replacement by rules stipulating that a replacement must be selected from the same conference as the injured player.
Conley will also replace Booker in the three-point game ahead of Sunday’s display.
This is the first All-Star Game appearance for the 14-year-old veteran who immediately congratulated Gobert and Mitchell on social media.
Conley, who is now a member of Team Durant, will be reunited with Mitchell in the backfield.
