Miesha Tate’s ex charged with theft of her ATV

Former UFC champion Miesha Tate says her ex-boyfriend and fellow UFC fighter Bryan Caraway stole her ATV and devised a fraud scheme when she expressed her intention to take it back.

Caraway is now facing four charges of crimes, including first-degree attempted theft, fraud, filing a false insurance statement and making a false statement about a vehicle title, according to court records obtained by ESPN . The charges were filed in Benton County, Washington.

Tate, who retired from the UFC in 2016, was one of the sport’s most popular fighters as a women’s fighter for women. Caraway made his UFC debut in 2011 and last fought on the track in 2018.

What allegedly happened

According to the office of the Benton County Insurance Commissioner, Tate told Caraway in December 2018 that she was taking back the ATV he allegedly stole from her. She did so on Dec. 18 and Caraway bought a policy on the ATV on Dec. 21 before filing a claim three days later that the vehicle had been stolen, according to the documents.

Caraway told the insurance company that he bought the ATV and accessories for $ 18,500 while dating Tate, and according to the report, a title showing the vehicle in his name. Insurance investigators allege that Caraway forged the title and that Tate was the rightful owner of the ATV.

According to the report, Caraway later withdrew the insurance claim. But his alleged actions up to that point sparked the insurance investigation that led to his four complaints.

Benton County Insurance Commissioner Mike Kriedler has placed Caraway on the commission’s most popular list after he failed to appear in court on January 12 this year. He has since been removed from the list after contacting the prosecutor’s office and is scheduled for March 11.
