MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – On Wednesday, Middlesex County announced that six new vaccination sites are now open in the country.
However, New Jersey, like all states, is struggling to keep up with the demand for the vaccine. Vaccine production currently does not match demand, and even the federal reserves of the vaccine have been depleted. Government Murphy just said Tuesday that the state has now opened two-thirds of its vaccination stations, but “all we are missing are the doses we need,” he said.
The supply will remain short ‘for some time’, and Murphy did not specify when it will increase, or how.
The new sites are:
- East Brunswick Community Arts Center
- Middlesex County Fire Academy in Sayreville (it was the first place opened in the county; it’s been open since the first week of January. To this day it was only open to police, firefighters and health workers. It’s now open to the general public) public.)
- Monroe Township Senior Center
- The Heldrich Hotel and Conference Center in New Brunswick
- Middlesex County Office of Health Services in Piscataway
- Middle Sex County Vocational and Technical School in Perth Amboy
You still need to register through the state for all the new sites above: https://covidvaccine.nj.gov/ or here: http: //www.middlesexcountynj.g …
These new sites will be strictly open based on the provision of vaccines to Middlesex County. Call Middlesex County Call Center at 732-745-3100 for any questions or if you are unable to register online.
You can only get the vaccine if you are in category 1a (health workers, police and firefighters) and 1b (people over 65 and those between 16 and 64 with specific medical conditions).
The mega-website at the Edison Expo Center opened Friday. It will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and once New Jersey has enough vaccines, the site could administer up to 2,400 vaccines a day, Middlesex officials said.
