Microsoft’s new Outlook calendar board look a lot like Trello

Microsoft is making the first major change to the Outlook calendar view in years. A new Outlook calendar board view is coming soon to Outlook for the Internet, and it works a lot like Trello. It’s a new dynamic view that lets you organize meetings with tasks, notes, goals, links, files, and more.

It works a lot like Trello, where you can add new maps information to organize your calendar and meetings. Files can sit next to this view, or even simple notes and objectives to help organizations. It’s essentially an ever expanding board that tries to keep everything central to keeping your calendar clean and up to date.

“People use an average of six tools to track all the things they need to do,” said Gabriel Valdez, product marketing manager for Microsoft’s Outlook team. “It’s a lot of context change, back and forth, and maybe even double detection.” This new calendar board view is designed to help people switch between tools and applications to manage their time.

Microsoft is first making this new board calendar view available in Outlook on the Internet, and it will soon be available to commercial and educational users as well. However, it is not clear how this new view will appear in Outlook for Windows or the mobile versions of Outlook in the future.

Microsoft is also improving Outlook for iOS and Android for scheduling meetings. Later this month, suggested meeting times for all commercial and educational users will appear, making it easier to avoid conflict when planning meetings with multiple participants.
