Microsoft’s new Office app is now available on iPad

Microsoft has updated its unified Office mobile app to work on Apple’s iPad devices. The new Office app combines Word, Excel and PowerPoint into a single application and was originally launched for iOS and Android in 2019. Microsoft has gradually improved it since then, but it has always been in a window mode instead of a fully optimized iPad app.

This new update means that Office is now a complete iPadOS app, with access to all the usual tablet variants of Microsoft’s productivity package. The app also contains some useful tools designed primarily for mobile tasks. These include the ability to quickly create PDFs or sign documents, convert images to text and tables, and more quick actions.

Microsoft has simplified its mobile Office presentations in this single app, but standalone programs for Word, Excel and PowerPoint are still available and are updated regularly. Although it took a while before the main Office app was iPad-friendly, Microsoft added many iPad-specific features to its Office applications, including recently mouse and trackpad support.
