Microsoft Word gets forecasts in March

Microsoft plans to add text predictions to Word in March. The new feature works similarly to Google Docs’ Smart Compose option, and uses machine learning to predict what words an author needs to speed up document creation. Microsoft originally announced a beta of text predictions last year, but Neowin noted that it is now on the Microsoft 365 roadmap to reach next Word users on Windows.

Word will highlight gray predictions when users write a document, and suggestions can be accepted using the Tab key or rejected by pressing Escape. Text predictions can also be completely eliminated by Word users.

Microsoft also began launching identical text predictions in Outlook for Windows this month, enabling users to compose faster emails. These predictions like Gmail also appeared last year on Outlook on the Internet, along with a feature to let people schedule when emailing.
