Microsoft, Starbucks CEOs Join Joining Government Inoculation

Government Jay Inslee joined the executives of Microsoft and Starbucks on Monday afternoon when it announced changes to the state’s distribution plan for the Covid vaccine and a new public-private partnership.

The announcement, which takes place on Monday at 3 p.m., will also include the state health secretary, a vice president of the local union and two heads of local health care providers. You can watch it live in the video player above.

The news comes as Washington and many other states are struggling to administer the vaccines they already have. The majority of the state’s Covid-19 shots sit in cold storage.

As of last week, Washington was 26th in the country for distributing vaccines, slightly above the national average but far from stars.

There is also confusion among states about how much more vaccines will come and when states will receive them.

The state is currently in the first phase of implementing vaccines for health workers and long-term caregivers. Health officials say the state is going to phase 1B soon, but they have not given an exact date. 1B includes people older than 70 and 50 years or older if they live in multi-generation households.

This is an evolving story. It will be updated after the 15:00 announcement.
