Microsoft has moved forward with a patent to create chatbots that can mimic the personality of a specific person. The technology giant obtained permission for the patent earlier this month after initially filing the license in 2017.

Microsoft’s goal is to create artificial intelligence generated from individual personalities, dead or alive, based on social media data, electronic messages, and other forms of personal information. The company plans to use images and video data to make their avatars more realistic.

Several start-ups are already working on technology that can create 3D holograms.

“Our software enables the simultaneous recording of multiple people in different locations in real time,” said Javier Bello, founder and CEO of Imverse. “This recording can be integrated into games, teleconferencing applications, education platforms, built with standard software for creating 3D content.”

Bello further said technology companies have shown great interest in the software as it can be applied in the fields of education, television and entertainment.
