Microsoft launches Xbox cloud games online

You do not have to wonder what Xbox cloud games on the internet look like. The edge has learned that Microsoft has started testing xCloud game streaming in browsers, and the experience seems familiar when you try it on Android devices. A straightforward launcher helps you fuel recent games and find new games to play through your (required) Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

Testers need a controller to play Xbox games, and testing is currently limited to Chromium-based browsers such as Chrome or Microsoft Edge. It may then take a while before you know what the experience looks like on an iOS device. It’s also unclear what resolution Microsoft will use for the game, though it probably won’t be 4K if the company upgrades its cloud infrastructure to Xbox Series X hardware later in 2021.

These are closed tests for now, although Microsoft has promised to make iOS and PC streaming available on the Internet in the spring. The dry run indicates that the technology giant is on track. Suffice it to say that this will be a major expansion. The goal of Microsoft’s cloud games is to make Xbox titles available wherever you want to play, and a browser option can make the service much more accessible – and that can help justify the $ 15 monthly fee.
