The Xbox Series X feels like a major PC-like upgrade for your Xbox games, but a fraction of buyers are experiencing an unusual experience downgrade also – the new Xbox Series X gamepad apparently does not stay connected to the console in some games and in some situations, according to a 40-page thread in Microsoft’s help forum.
The good news: Microsoft knows about the problem, and a solution is on the way. “We know some gamers are having a break with their new Xbox Wireless Controllers, and our teams are actively working on a solution to be included in a future update,” said a company spokesman. The edge.
Again, it is not clear how widespread this issue is – although nearly 1,700 co-signers on a 40-page forum post are enough to show that it is certainly a concern, it is a small fraction of the million plus units that these consoles estimated were sold at launch. And some of those who report the issue say it only happens in certain games, like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, as you will see when you read the forum or Reddit topics.
Even some of the videos we saw of the release do not necessarily seem to have the same problem: one of these is a controller that does not seem to sync with the console at all, while the other is connected, but input is not sent successfully.
Either way, it sounds like Microsoft will sort it out. And if you experience that the controller is disconnected on a Windows computer via Bluetooth (rather than an Xbox console), there may already be a solution. There is a Windows Update that you can download.
