Michigan coach Juwan Howard pushed out during a heated skirmish with Maryland

Juwan Howard, head coach of the University Basketball in Michigan, was sent off in the second half of their 79-66 victory over Maryland.

During a break in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament, Howard was seen moving to the Maryland bench. It appears that Mary Turland coach Mark Turgeon is reacting and setting a skirmish on fire where Howard has charged the opposing team and had to be held back by his coaching staff and players.

According to the Detroit Free Press, Howard, after first learning he could be thrown out of the game, got even angrier. He was then evicted, and Turgeon received a technical foul.

Howard told a news conference after the game that he was trying to make a call with the ref claims Turgeon tells him, “Juwan, I’m not going to let you talk to me! You never talk to me again! Howard said Turgeon then charged him.

“I was raised by Grandma and Chicago,” Howard said. “If someone charges you, you go into defense mode … When he charged me, I responded.”

Assistant coach Phil Martelli took over for Howard, and Michigan sailed to victory after falling behind in double figures in the first half. They will be the winner of Ohio State vs. Saturday. Purdue takes on the fight in the semifinals of the Big Ten tournament.
