Michelle Williams plays Peggy Lee in Todd Haynes’ biography

According to Michelle Williams, Peggy Lee was portrayed in an upcoming biography The Hollywood Reporter. Todd Haynes, who previously worked with Williams on the Bob Dylan Centers I’m not here, was set up to lead the project.

The Hollywood Reporter note that Fever is based on a Nora Ephron screenplay, but that the project was set up after her death in 2012. Billboard reports that Billie Eilish is also in talks to join Fever as executive producer. Peggy Lee established herself in the early 1940s as a big-band singer, writing nearly 300 songs and pursuing a productive career as a songwriter and entertainer. Her many hits included “Fever” and “Is That All There Is.” She died in 2002 at the age of 81.

In 2017, Deadline reports that Williams as Janis Joplin is in a biography approved by the late singer’s estate. The film was allowed to use two dozen of Joplin’s songs, but no further details were released.
