MGMA survey: physician practices disregarded COVID-19 vaccine deployment

The survey showed that the vast majority of independent practitioners actively seeking COVID-19 vaccines did not receive any doses.

Physician practices are left behind in the push to vaccinate Americans against the COVID-19 coronavirus.

According to a news release from the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA), a survey found that 85 percent of independent practices and 45 percent of hospitals responding to active doses for vaccination for patients have not yet received it.

Meanwhile, most practitioners who received doses reported that they received only enough stock to vaccinate 1 percent or less of their patients.

“Current proliferation efforts are taking patients away from reliable ties with their physicians and forcing them to chase a randomized vaccine,” said Halee Fischer-Wright, MD, MDM, FAAP, FACMPE, president and CEO of MGMA, in the release. ‘Physician practices have the ability and strategic ability to proactively deliver the vaccine by identifying patients according to age, pre-existing conditions and other risk factors. Patients trust their doctors to answer questions about the safety and efficacy of vaccines. MGMA calls on the new government to harness the country’s medical groups to speed up and streamline the vaccine explosion. Without doctors directing this critical effort, patients will be left behind. ”
