Mets’ Steve Cohen deleted Twitter after GameStop tweeted

Mets owner Steve Cohen seems to have dropped it on Twitter.

The owner of Mets appeared delete his account Friday night – first remarked at around 21:20 – after a very active and rocky week on the social media platform, with the hedge fund billionaire in the midst of the GameStop stock chaos.

According to Cohen’s Point72 Asset Management and co-hedge fund Citadel run by billionaire Ken Griffin, they have invested a total of $ 2.75 billion in Melvin Capital Management. Melvin is run by Cohen’s former protege Gabe Plotkin. Cohen’s net worth is estimated at $ 14.6 billion,

“Rough crowd on Twitter tonight,” Cohen tweeted Wednesday night. “Hey stock jockeys bring it on.”

Cohen took to Twitter again on Thursday with Dave Portnoy after the Barstool Sports founder blew up the owner of Mets for restrictions on trading programs like Robinhood that hurt novice investors behind the balloon experience of GameStop’s stock value.

“Hey Dave, what’s your beef with me,” Cohen tweeted back. “I’m just trying to make a living, just like you. Happy to take it offline.”

The two apparently found mutual respect at the end when Portnoy tweeted: ‘You are at least talking and trying to answer. It is appreciated. ”

Portnoy seems to be taking some pleasure in removing Cohen’s account by responding to a tweet about the news with an emoji of a smiling face with sunglasses.

Cohen’s tweets about the GameStop situation did not match WFAN morning presenter Boomer Esiason. The former NFL quarterback was dropped off on the “Boomer and Gio Show” on Friday and said he would stop going to games “until I find out exactly what’s going on here” with Cohen’s involvement.

“Hey, I do not want to hear from you, do you know what I mean?” Esiason said. ‘Your hedge fund billionaire. Just keep your mouth shut. The other thing is, he put out another one too: “Hey stock joggers, keep bringing this.” That’s why he discounts the people of Reddit WallStreetBets as ‘stock jockeys’ and shoots them up as he knows what’s going on, because he sits in this hedge fund king chair and makes all these decisions.

“I hate it. That’s why I told you this morning when I came in, I said, ‘You know what? I swear to God, I’m not going to go to another Met game until I find out exactly what’s going on here.’ actually makes me stomach. ”

Cohen chatted with Mets fans on Twitter, making suggestions and teasing a return of black jerseys became part of the new owner’s charm. This appears to be preliminary. Fellow WFAN host and Mets fan Evan Roberts did find humor that Cohen closed his account.

“It was not even a cruel ninth inning that would send Steve Cohen away from Twitter!” Roberts tweeted.
