Metro Health appointments for the second dose of COVID-19

SAN ANTONIO The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District has begun planning appointments for the second dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

Patients who received the first dose of the vaccine at the Alamodome by Wednesday afternoon are eligible, according to a news release.

Previously, people who had already been vaccinated were told to register online one week before their second dose, but that is no longer the case, officials said.

Patients will receive a call from Metro Health to schedule their second dose. If someone missed the call and wanted to schedule, they can call 311 and select option 8 or send an email to [email protected].

Currently, there are only frontline health workers and residents at long-term care facilities (called Phase 1A) plus people over 65 or with a chronic medical condition who are elevated by COVID-19 (Phase 1B). currently eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Phase 1B receivers include:

  • People 65 years and older
  • People 16 years and older with at least one chronic medical condition who are at risk for serious diseases caused by the virus that causes COVID-19, such as:
  • Cancer
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)
  • Heart conditions, such as heart failure, coronary artery disease or cardiomyopathy
  • Fixed organ transplant
  • Obesity and severe obesity (body mass index of 30 kg / m2 or higher)
  • Pregnancy
  • Sickle cell disease
  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus

As Bexar County receives more and more vaccines, more appointments will begin. Residents are asked to check daily to see if there are appointments available on the city’s website or by dialing 311 and selecting option 8.

Hours for the Alamodome Vaccination Clinic are currently from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
