‘Metro Exodus’ on next generation consoles will work at 60FPS with jet tracking

The Metro exit upgrading for next generation consoles is more ambitious than you would expect. 4A Games and Deep Silver have revealed that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game will feature a refurbished engine with “fully beam-detected” imagery, including global lighting and radiant lighting that will be the first times in the Two colonels expansion on computers. They work at 4K at 60 frames per second, even when these features are enabled, and you can expect optimizations for the fast SSD drives, as well as specific features like DualSense support on the PS5 and low-latency input on the Xbox.

The Xbox Series S will play ‘only’ at 1080p at an unspecified frame rate, though you can expect full beam tracking to remain intact. And yes, computer gamers will see many of the benefits – a Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition will bring upgraded reflections on rays on higher-end GPUs as well as DLSS 2.0 on NVIDIA video cards.

All upgrades are free. 4A has not reduced the availability of the console upgrade, but the refresh of the computer is in the spring.

There’s even something for PC gamers who don’t like Windows. Metro exit for Mac, the App Store, Epic Games Store, and Steam will now be available in March, while the Linux version will arrive “a little later” on Steam. These ports are not exactly fresh when Exodus first shipped in 2019, but it’s still good to play more high-profile games on your MacBook or Linux device.
