Mercedes excludes EQS Coupé and convertible due to lack of demand

We can safely say that Mercedes-Benz has made it very clear that its range will be cut to essentials – models that actually sell and make up a large percentage of the German carmaker. This was completely confirmed with the Mercedes S-Class in 2021, which was only revealed as a four-door sedan.

But the removal of coupe and convertible options for the S-Class is not limited to the flagship fuel model. The newly unveiled 2022 Mercedes EQS will also not come with coupe and convertible options, as confirmed by Gordon Wagener, design chief of Mercedes.

Talk to EnginesWagener said that coupes and convertible vehicles are special vehicles and that we will see fewer and fewer of the models in the future. He also added that these specialty vehicles will make up only 15 percent of the market, which speaks volumes about the lack of them.

Wagener also gave a rough estimate of the market in the future, saying that 50 percent will be SUVs, while about 30 percent will be sedans. These figures support his next statement that Mercedes is not going to make coupes and cabrios in every segment – yes, electric cars included.

News about Mercedes’ decoration, especially for the US market, has been around since 2019, so the EQS, which does not get a special version, is hardly a surprise. However, we can expect a greater opportunity to change different body styles for the high-electric models, as they are expected to sell more than their counterparts.

Then only time can tell, but it makes no sense to wait for a bad version of the EQS. Anyway not that it needs one as the new flagship EV is already smooth though it has four doors.
