The interface of the hyper screen can be just as important as the large size. Mercedes focuses heavily on AI that pops up features and suggests when you need them. This will allow you to call a contact if you talk to them regularly when you drive home, automatically pick up the car based on your location and even remember your preferred type of massage based on outside temperatures.
The controls are perhaps easier to use than in earlier MBUX-equipped cars. Mercedes aims for a ‘zero-layer’ interface where common tasks are immediately available – for example, navigation is always in the middle of the screen.
The company is still shy about exactly when you can expect the EQS to be outside its vague 2021 target. However, the Hyperscreen teaser offers an idea what Mercedes planned. It will truly be an S-Class for the era of electric cars, including save-at-no-cost cabin technology.
